Music for the Weeping Woman, Ken's newest duo cd with singer/songwriter Angela Carole Brown, is now available!
Guitarist Ken Rosser has just released his duo CD with singer-songwriter Angela Carole Brown, Music for the Weeping Woman, and is the midst of recording his first solo CD for Rue de la Harpe, entitled Kvardek, an ambient multi-guitar experience.
Ken was primarily self-taught on guitar until enrolling at Cal State Fullerton, where he studied classical guitar with Scott Zeidel and jazz improvisation with Burgess Gardner. After leaving CSUF, he continued to study classical guitar privately with David Grimes. Since then he has also studied jazz guitar with Larry Coryell, Joe Diorio and Ted Greene, lap steel with Greg Leisz, Chinese pipa with He Shufeng, Vietnamese dan bau with Chau Nguyen, African Guitar with Abdoulaye Diabate, and jazz improvisation with saxophonist Benn Wallace and bassist Harvie Swartz.
He has played and/or recorded with the Bobby Bradford Mo'tet, The David Pritchard Guitar Quartet, The Grand Mother (Ex-Mothers Of Invention), Prince Diabate, John Cage, The Don Preston Quartet, The Steve Lockwood Ensemble, Jerry Steinholtz, Angela Carole Brown, Quarteto Nuevo, Smokey Robinson, Todd Rundgren, David Thomas, Stan Ridgway, Vinnie Golia, Brad Dutz, Billy Higgins, Richard Sinclair, Kevin Ayers, Marta Santos, Ed Mann, The Ann Dyer Trio, Nels Cline, Phillip Greenlief, Roberto Miranda, Sweet Baby Jai's New Day Blues Band, Tom Heasley, Kim Richmond, Dekajazz, the Bruce Eskovitz Jazz Orchestra, the Steve Weisberg Band, The Orchestre Surréal, the Los Angeles Chinese Zither Orchestra, Klezmer Juice, Incendio, Terry Landry and Amazonas, Ron Kobayashi, and Howard Tate, and played at the Frankfurt Jazz Festival, The Vancouver Folk Festival, The Leipzig Strings of Fire Festival, the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Chico World Music Festival, and Zappanale in Bad Doberon, Germany, among several others.
Ken has recorded for films, television, and commercials, in addition to composing for the scores to the play Turning Points and the independent film Red State Road Trip. He has taught at the Los Angeles Music Academy, the International Music Seminars in Switzerland and France, and is currently a full-time staff instructor at GIT in Hollywood.
